‘Tis the season of giving and that’s exactly what our toy-drive supporters did this year! We set out to collect enough toys for each of the 1,700 children we currently serve in child welfare, care coordination, and treatment foster care. The SaintA elves are happy to report we met – and exceeded – that goal!
After the toys were collected, our Case Managers “went shopping” for each of the kids on their case loads. There were stuffed animals and learning games for the little ones, building kits for the young engineers in our midst, hair and clothing accessories for our blossoming youth, sports equipment for budding pro athletes, and gift cards for teens, just to name a few.
In past years, we have heard from our youth case managers that teens often request gift cards so they can use those dollars to buy gifts for others. Now, that is the true spirit of giving.
Special thanks to all the SaintA staff who took their sleighs out to the community to start toy collections and gather donations earlier this month. Donations came in from literally every corner of the Milwaukee area – a salon in Pewaukee, a transit floor manufacturer in Cudahy, a couple of Wisconsin Athletic Club sites, an American Legion Auxillary in Greendale, a creative shop in Walker’s Point, an IT firm in Milwaukee, and too many others to mention.
Thanks for making the holidays a little brighter for kids in foster care.
