SaintA was recently named a finalist in the Collaboration category of the BizTimes Media Nonprofit Excellence Awards, an annual celebration of local charitable organizations and corporate citizens.
The recognition was earned for SaintA’s leadership in the creation and launch of a smartphone app, called GRiD MKE, aimed at providing guidance and useful resources for youth who have aged out of foster care. The secondary audiences for the app are younger teens and youth still in care, as well as case managers who often will use the app to connect families with needed resources.
The resources in GRiD MKE are organized by what SaintA calls the Five Pillars of Stability, which are:
- Care Connections, such as food- and clothes-drives and worship centers
The app was made possible by a technology grant from the Tellier Foundation and was created in partnership with a number of other child- and family-serving nonprofits. Read more about the app here: There’s an App for That!
The event was the fourth annual Nonprofit Excellence Awards program and included a panel discussion, “How to solve your labor shortage and get engaged in social change.”
