SaintA’s Family Stability Program is here at last! Our three Family Stability specialists, Iris Barrios, Jessica Kotsakis, and Allison McCool, have hit the ground running. They are working diligently to create strong relationships with community agencies within Milwaukee and the surrounding areas. With these relationships, SaintA and Capitol West Academy families will have more timely access to resources that address the five pillars of family stability: caring connections, education, employment, health care and housing.
On April 11, the Family Stability team invited our preferred community providers to an open house at the SaintA Family Center. The event started with a refreshment hour at which the partners were able to get to know each other and the SaintA staff in attendance. We introduced them to Allison, Iris and Jessica. After the introductory period, the partners and the SaintA staff gathered in a family room for a dialogue about the relationships we plan to build together.
The providers and SaintA discussed common themes related to accessing resources within the Milwaukee community. Some of these themes included communication barriers and transportation. The Family Stability Program will be working with the community to develop ways to track what our families need in order to provide sustained stability.
The open house ended with the Family Stability Program discussing our next steps. The team will be connecting with all of the current partners and any potential new partners to learn more about their agencies and plan future events, such as trainings and community resource fairs for SaintA and Capitol West Academy families. Stay tuned for more exciting updates from the Family Stability Program!
